Revature is the largest employer of emerging technology talent in the United States – We’re fueling the future of work by providing diverse technology talent at scale, bridging the skill gap while equalizing opportunity for all. Our mission is to close the opportunity gap in the technology industry by creating pathways for job candidates that have the aptitude but may not have the network or access they need to secure an entry-level position. We partner closely with top universities and enterprises and serve as a bridge between higher education and the tech needs of modern companies.
The beauty of the Revature model is that it creates “wins” for its two key stakeholders: associates and clients. Our associates win by having the opportunity to launch their tech careers and permanently joining leading organizations, and our clients win by getting the long-term talent they need to succeed. This is what allows Revature to win and attract more associates and clients.
More specifically, leading companies across many industries come to Revature when they need to hire entry level tech talent with specific technical skills. These companies share their requirements with us, and we create a custom training curriculum to fit their needs.
Revature then hires motivated college graduates with an aptitude and passion for technology. Revature trains these associates to become software developers through an immersive paid 10 – 12 week program.
Once training is complete, our newly-minted software engineers are interviewed and selected by our clients. The software engineers work for their client on a two-year employment contract. During this time, the client can make the software engineer an offer for permanent employment. This is the typical outcome since clients are coming to Revature for their long-term talent needs.
To recap, Revature bills our clients for the services of our software engineers. These funds are then used to pay our software engineers’ wages, as well as their training, hence the employer-paid model. In other words, employers are willing to pay a premium for well-trained software engineers because they know they’ll be productive on day 1 and integrate well into existing teams.
Here’s a step-by-step process that describes the candidate and software engineer experience:
1. Apply Online: Our online application is simple and fast. We hire individuals with college degrees from both tech and non-tech backgrounds. No prior coding experience is required!
2. Complete Our Evaluation: The evaluation is designed to gauge your best pathway to employment. We have pathways to employment for applicants with a strong coding foundation, and for those that are new to coding. Pre-employment training is available for applicants who need to build their coding foundation.
3. Have an Interview: If your application is accepted, you’ll be interviewed via video. We’ll talk to you in-depth about what our training entails and your career goals and expectations.
4. Get Training & Experience: Once you’re hired, we’ll host you online or at one of our offices across the country, where you’ll go through an intensive and customized paid 10 – 12 week training program. Learn new and relevant tech skills, software implementation methodologies, and work on projects in a collaborative, real-world environment. We pay for you to get certified in any and all of the technologies that are required for your successful transition to the client project.
5. Kickstart Your Career: After successfully completing training, you’ll be interviewed and selected by one of our industry-leading clients. We’ll help you relocate to the Technology Development Center of the client, so that you can get started right away. Our client portfolio of more than 50 companies includes 6 out of the top 10 banks in the U.S., the largest U.S. based-retailer, 7 out of the top 10 global IT consulting firms, and 3 of the top 5 management consulting firms.
It’s important to note that working for Revature requires you to relocate to your client project location. Our clients require relocation because, again, they are hoping you will become a long-term employee and so they want you to build up your network onsite. If you’re up for the adventure – our program could be a great fit for you.
Starting salaries for entry-level jobs at Revature are competitive based on industry standards. Compensation including training pay, first year on client project and automatic raises for the second year on project are all covered in the application process.
At Revature, we are committed to protecting the investment and intent of our two biggest stakeholders – our employees (you) and our clients (leading global companies). Our two-year employment agreement represents that investment and commitment between Revature, our employees and our clients. It ensures that you have the time you need to get on-the-job training, experience and career stability. It also equally ensures that our clients can complete critical technology projects while getting a chance to evaluate you as a potential permanent employee.
In fact, more than 80% of our employees perform so well that within 12 to 14 months of being assigned to a client project, they’re hired by the client and become their full-time employee – which is our ultimate goal.
Not at this time. Our training model is specifically designed to meet industry technology demand – and we want to make sure that you’re ready for client projects right away. Our direct relationships with leading businesses allow us to identify and train on the most employable skills in the shortest possible time. In other words, because our clients have tight deadlines, we need to match our new hires with our custom trainings as soon as they open up.
You must have an associate degree or higher to work for Revature.
Here’s why – the companies that we work with have education requirements, and in order to ensure that all Revature employees are successfully assigned to software implementation projects for our clients, we must adhere to our partner’s employment conditions. However, we do not require that employees have a background in IT or programming, or prior experience working in technology. In fact, our program can be a great fit for those looking to make a career change.
It’s also important to understand that to work for Revature, you need to be open to relocation throughout the contiguous United States – that’s because enterprise-level software development requires you to collocate to the Technology Development Center of our clients. Remember, they are looking for permanent employees and so they want you to work side-by-side and network with their full-time permanent staff.
We know that relocation isn’t for everyone so if you’d like to learn more about how it works, you can speak with a member of our Recruitment team at 703-260-6799.
